South Australian grain growers have embraced the Clear Grain Exchange platform like never before, during the 2015/16 grain marketing season. Volumes traded on the Exchange have already doubled this year and are at an all time high for the online electronic platform.
As a key supporter of the Clear Grain Exchange in South Australia, FREE Eyre CEO Mark Rodda is encouraged with the broad take up of this industry leading exchange by the state’s farmers.
“CGX is proving to be an extremely effective tool in SA grain grower’s marketing kit-bag. It is really pleasing to see growers from across the state list their warehoused grain at their desired target prices. Once listed, it is available for the grain trade to see and purchase if the grade and price suits their orders.”
From the week commencing 11 January, CGX recorded its highest volume of sales for the current season, across all SA port zones.
“We understand that buyer engagement with Clear is at an all time high, as trading houses realise the ease with which they can secure an increasing portion of their South Australian grain requirements,” commented Mr Rodda.
“Whilst grain prices are still generally languishing those cash prices received during the 14/15 harvest, there are still opportunities presenting in the market every week for different grades of SA grain. By having warehoused grain listed at a target or reserve price on Clear, it is always firm and ‘for sale’. It is amazing how often we are seeing parcels snapped up by the trade at or above the public cash bids.”
Mr Rodda said “we encourage all South Australian grain growers to establish their own Clear Grain Exchange account and FREE Eyre staff are always available to talk growers through how the exchange operates.
